Presentation

In the Men for Women project I will take care of drafting the critical edition of Vicenzo Sigonio's work, La Defense of Women, published in Ferrara in the mid-16th century, and of analyzing the numerous references to previous works (both misogynistic and phylogeny) that are abundantly cited by the author. I will then move on to Giovanni Michele Bruto's treatise The institution of a girl born nobly (1555) which outlines a typically Renaissance educational ideal dedicated to young nobles, drawing abundant material from traditional sources, both classical and medieval.
