Francesco da Barberino

Barberino Valle de Elsa, 1264- Florence 1348
Francesco da Barberino

He is a notary and poet (he was born in Barberino Barberino di Val d'Elsa 1264 and died in Firenze in 1348). He is exiled in 1304 and returns to Florence between 1315 and 1316, after having traveled extensively in Italy and abroad.

He wrote two didactic operettas: Documenti d'Amore (c. 1309-1310), which contains in single verse a series of precepts dictated by Amore to Eloquenza, and Reggimento e costumi di donna, in prose mixed with verse, on education and conduct of women according to their condition.
